"If man doesn't learn to treat the oceans and the rain forest with respect, man will become extinct."
- Peter Benchley, Author of "Jaws"
Our Yabby is known as Cherax Destructor. 'Destructor' because it burrows itself into mud, levee banks and dam walls during times of drought and therefore damages dam structures. They are famous for being hardy and living in tough conditions. They can live in dirty water, and survive deep in the mud through drought.
Found throughout Victoria, NSW, southern Queensland and parts of South Australia, it is an iconic Australian freshwater creature.
Jess has drawn the humble yabby is fully technocolour, replacing its usual blue and brown hues with fluoro purples, pinks and yellows.
