Spanning a series of t-shirts, Jess's latest collaboration is with Melbourne-based artist, Ted McKinlay.
Ted works in inner- city Melbourne, here he witnesses thousands of faces daily passing into and through the city CBD.
With a quick glance at his moving subjects, his observations are caught with ink on paper. These lighting quick sketches capture the quixotic movement of the harried commuter and stillness of the waiting crowds, the permeable space between private and public, and the individual faces of those around us; those we so often pass by unseen.
Armed with pen, paper, quick wit and keen observation, Ted draws the people whom we move amongst, the faces in the crowd that we glance in a hurry but never see, the behaviours that communicate far more than any words. His ‘at work’ series provides a compilation of the shared preoccupations, fears and fascinations of our city's crowds. And by observing his sketched snapshots of those around us, we see ourselves reflected in the faces of our city.
