Grace Tame was Australian of the Year for 2021. She redefined the role. She spoke up, she spoke out, she did not tow the line, she did not smile for every photo op. No - she spoke her truth and stood her ground. She started a movement. She gave voice to those who have been silenced. She gave hope and understanding.
She has given voice to survivors of sexual abuse. Being a survivor herself, she has successfully campaigned to overturn laws that prohibited survivors being able to speak publicly about their abuse. She was awarded Australian of the Year 2021.
