As the lead singer of the beloved, Cold Chisel, Barnsey cemented himself as a captivating and unpredictable lead singer, larger than life and full of raw energy. 

Jimmy has lived life to its absolute fullest. He went through a period of drink and drug addiction which, now sober, he has since spoken out about in aid to tell his story and be a role model for others. He has been a vocal champion for men's mental health and battling with addiction.  

In addition to his stellar music career, he is also a best selling author, penning his autobiography "Working Class Boy" and "Working Class Man'. He remains the only Australian to win the ABIA Award for Best Biograhpy twice. 

He was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame with Cold Chisel in 1992 and as a solo artist in 2018.

He was awarded an Order of Australia in 2017.
